Here's your recipe for winter fun:
Start
with access to almost 800 acres of forest; add 15 miles of trails--some
easy, some not; cover with snow from December through March; add an optional
pinch of equipment rental (we have new and one-season old Alpina equipment
for adults and children); provide shelter, a fire and a restaurant; and
you've got top-notch cross-country skiing!
Best
of all, it's only a few hours from Baltimore, Washington, Pittsburgh and
the rest of the mid-Atlantic region!
Where?
The Savage River Lodge.
A
$5 facility fee gives you access to more than a forest of skiing possibilities:
a trail map, trails both groomed and ungroomed for beginners and skiers
of all skill levels, an indoor gathering spot around the fireplace, and
outdoor tables and chairs in a protected area near the ski shop. We have
ski equipment rental (see below), and offer lessons.
Our ski shop also has a selection of snacks and beverages for purchase.
Then
there's the Savage River Lodge: a "gourmet country" restaurant serving
breakfast, lunch and dinner (by reservation only), bar, eighteen private
upscale cabins-in-the-woods, and pet-friendly, too (by advance arrangement)!
If you are staying overnight at the Lodge, your user fee is included in
your room rate.
And
if you don't ski? Think snowshoeing, snowball fights, sledding, snowman
building, walks in the falling snow, marshmallows around the bonfire,
and a quiet day in a beautiful and quiet place.
So
gather your friends, cook up a plan, and head to the Savage River Lodge
for your next winter adventure. If you want to Ski & Dine, Ski & Stay,
or bring your pet, call ahead for reservations and information.
