The Cat's Out of the Bag........... A Lodge Puppy is on the way !

Check out Savage River Lodge Facebook page for photos of the litter. Don't know which one, if it will be a boy or a girl and don't have a name picked out.

Have any good "vibes" about the name of the new addition? Email us with your suggestions.

We will have the new Lodge Puppy the end of March or first part of April.

Photography Workshop with Middleton Evans

Our dear friend and creator of the "Bodhi" book will be conducting a workshop on Saturday, June 12

Make beautiful close-up photographs of majestic raptors - owls, hawks, vultures and a noble raven!
Rehabilitated birds of prey from Baltimore's Carrie Murray Nature Center will journey west to the woods of the Savage River Lodge, to be artfully posed on various trees by acclaimed Maryland photographer Middleton Evans. These handsome birds, including Owlex the Great Horned Owl, are used to being photographed up close and personal, so you don't need a super-telephoto lens to make great shots.

In the afternoon all are welcome to join Middleton on a nature walk to discover some of the wild residents of the forest. Playing birdsong tapes may draw into view the brilliant Scarlet Tanager, a common nester in Western Maryland. The lowland meadows near the bridge are an excellent place to observe and photograph a variety of butterflies nectaring on wildflowers. Perhaps some ducks and frogs may be spotted at the beaver pond. Shortly before sunset the beavers inspect their dam while deer graze in the field below the Lodge.

In evening Middleton present a slide show of favorite images from the Savage River State Forest and Savage River Lodge, as well as wildlife from across North America, sharing the stories and techniques behind the making of powerful photographs.

The cost is $100 per person for the morning workshop, afternoon nature hike and evening slide show.

All ages and skill levels are welcome. Come celebrate nature together !

Call 301 689 3200 or email info@savageriverlodge.com to reserve your place and book your cabin for the weekend.

One Night Weekend Stays

We have a few weekends where we have arrival and departure patterns that have left us with a few one night stays.

Now would be a great time for a one-night getaway.

Season Pass
March is the beginning
of our
SPRING SEASON

Stay two-nights in March, April or May
and you'll be that much closer to
two nights free.

Among our many life blessings we'll include our stay at Savage River Lodge - the lovely cabin and lodge, the stillness and peace in the woods, the joy of our little spaniel who was in his glory off leash.

Porch sitting and reading in the rain, time for2memories to surface and time to reflect and talk with each other.

We are grateful!

We're also telling a few select friends

- S & N, Pittsburgh

What a wonderful blessing of God's beauty and the hospitality of the Savage River Lodge. This place provided the exact rest and renewal we needed away from the trials of everyday life.

This is our 2nd visit and we've made reservations for 2 more. This is the perfect combination of activity and rest. Being outside hiking, biking, etc. then having a lovely meal, hot shower and cozy bed is our idea of the best possible holiday. Bringing our Westie makes it even better. He loves to walk in the woods and was the life of the party at Yappy Hour. See you in March !
