Fly Fishing
With quiet forests and clear mountain streams, Western Maryland is the place to be for fly fishing. If you want to go for trophys or just want to experience the meditative zen of fly fishing, we'll get you hooked.
The only lodge in Maryland endorsed by Trout Unlimited, SRL is right in the middle of four trophy rivers. Beginners enjoy easy access on the Casselman River, which is also the most convenient. Better still, we only offer private and semi-private outings, regardless of your skill level.
You'll be amazed at what you'll learn and the relationship you'll develop with the river.

Bike the Great Allegheny Passage
The Great Allegheny Passage is a 150-mile hiking & biking trail between Cumberland, MD and Pittsburgh, PA. Built mainly on abandoned railroad beds, the trail surface is smooth, packed crushed limestone and with an average grade of about 1%. Trip highlights include crossing the Eastern Continental Divide through the Big Savage Tunnel, the soaring Salisbury Viaduct, and many miles hugging the Youghiogheny River including Ohiopyle Falls.
On a through-ride of the GAP? Consider building in a rest day and treat yourself to an in-cabin or in-yurt massage to sooth your sore muscles.
Shuttle Service from $25 per person, depending on destination
We shuttle you and your bike to points between Ohiopyle, PA and Paw Paw, WV including Confluence, Deal (our closest trailhead), Meyersdale, Frostburg, and Cumberland. Shuttle services available to overnight guests by advance reservation. Contact Guest Services directly to reserve.

Geocaching
Geocaching is one of the latest and greatest forms of recreation to come out of the information technology age. It's like a modern day treasure hunt!
Individuals and organizations hide caches all over the world and use GPS coordinates to find them, then exchange information about the locations online. A cache may contain a wide variety of rewards for the finder. All the visitor needs to remember is if they take something from the cache, they should leave something for the next visitor.
If you haven't tried Geocaching we will be happy to introduce you. Our "Wine Cache" training gives you basic instruction on how to use a GPS unit and coordinates for 4 caches located close to the Lodge. If you find all 4 caches (and bring back proof) you will get a coupon for a glass of wine. It's a great way to reward yourself for learning a new sport and hiking in the woods.
Wine Cache - $35 for rental and training of two GPS units
There are nearly 100 caches within ten miles of SRL, and eight in our woods alone. To see a map of area geocaches visit www.geocaching.com
The Cornucopia Café
SRL's sister venture in nearby Grantsville, The Cornucopia Café serves a fresh menu centered around regional fare. We’ve gathered our favorite recipes into a scrumptious selection of quiche, panini, fresh pasta, soup, salad and stir-fry, and included a bar with craft beer and wine. Visit the to-go counter for specialty coffee and food to take along on your morning commute, or for a satisfying mid-day pick-me-up.
Outdoor riverview seating will provide ample space for your next book club gathering, get-together with friends for a glass of wine or a lunch meeting with colleagues.
