SRL Travel Information

Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this new landscape together. We cannot wait to welcome you back to the Lodge! — Mike & Jan, KoKo & Karma, and SRL staff

Is srl open?

Yes! We are accepting overnight reservations for all future dates.

Some services remain somewhat limited. You can reach us by phone between 8am and 7pm, or send an email to if you have any questions at all regarding your existing reservation or prior to making one.

ONGOING CLEANLINESS & SANITATION

As food and hospitality professionals, we are certified in cleanliness standards and take everyone’s health — both our guests’ and our employees’ — seriously. We have closely followed guidance from the CDC as well as state and local agencies to offer “invisible,” contact-free service of the highest standard.

  • Our property is set upon 40 acres with separate accommodations and no common corridors, so we’re already set up for social distancing!

  • A new contactless check-in and check-out procedure allows guests to bypass our lobby.

  • The Main Lodge is open, but gathering indoors is not encouraged. A mask is required at all times when inside the Lodge, or when interacting with our staff throughout the rest of the property.

  • All trails are open for hiking.

  • For your peace of mind, we have replaced many reusable items with single-use disposables. Some non-essential items have been removed and those that remain in the room are disinfected between guests.

  • In order to thoroughly sanitize rooms between guests to stringent housekeeping standards, we may require more time to prepare your accommodation. The specific cabin or yurt that you requested may not be available or check-in times may be delayed.

  • Our environmental practice of only offering linen and cleaning services by request during your stay also limits interactions.

  • We insist on zero-fever tolerance for our guests as well as our staff. Please help us keep our mountaintop community healthy.

Dining

Our restaurant is now serving dinner nightly by room delivery as well as in the Lodge. Reservations are essential. Menu

Muffin baskets will be delivered to your doorstep each morning as before. Upgraded muffin basket selections and “Cheers for Vacation” morning alcohol options are also available.

Pre-order lunch and snack options have been added for our guests, and our full bar is available for delivery to your accommodation.

Our sister restaurant, The Cornucopia Café, is currently open Thursday to Monday, 8AM to 4PM. Indoor dining, outdoor dining on our partially covered decks (some areas pet-friendly), and carry-out options are all available.

Private grills and fires are not permitted. A microwave station is available 24/7 in the foyer of the Main Lodge.

Activities

Relax. It is the number one activity we recommend, all year long! We’re just down the road, and yet a world away. Sit out on your private deck and enjoy the peace and quiet. Bring a good book with you, or a deck of cards. The ultimate in relaxation may be an indulgent Massage in the privacy of your cabin or yurt.

Hike on our 14 miles of trails. View Trail Map. SRL community bonfires are lit most weekends, weather permitting. Please observe social distancing while enjoying. (Private fires and grills are not permitted.)

Fly Fishing is available for the experienced angler and beginners who have never put waders on before. Some of the best trout streams in the East are found nearby. Contact us for intel or to arrange our guided service.

Many area excursions are temporarily closed, like FireFly Farms wine and cheese tasting experience. The grounds at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater are open for reserved exterior tours, and Kentuck Knob is open for tours of both the home and expansive sculpture gardens with timed tickets. Both homes are approximately one hour away.

There are still plenty of options if you want to get afield. Here is a partial list of what is open, within about 30 minutes. Please be advised that public bathrooms may be unavailable. Masks are required when in public in both Maryland and Pennsylvania.

  • Hike many more miles of trail at New Germany State Park, or hike for the views from St. John’s Rock, Meadow Mountain Trail Overlook. Climb the fire tower at Mt. Davis, the highest point in Pennsylvania. Explore lesser known natural areas, like Carey Run Bird Sanctuary and Finzel Swamp.

  • Bring your bikes to cruise the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail through the Big Savage Tunnel and across the Mason Dixon Line.

  • Enjoy the history and scenic riverfront at Casselman Bridge State Park, then visit the shops at Little Crossings (our own Grant’s Mercantile and Little Crossings Pantry reopen May 22.)

  • Take a scenic drive through the winding country roads of mountaintop Maryland, including the Historic National Road.

connectivity

While we pride ourselves on our semi-remote location, cell phone service for voice and data is generally good across most providers. Guest accommodations offer wi-fi but there are no radios, televisions, or telephones. The main Lodge also offers wi-fi access from inside the building and on the decks.

Should you experience an emergency outside of our normal business hours, our owners are resident on the property. An emergency phone number will be provided upon arrival.

rescheduling & cancellations

Cancellations affect us greatly, however, we are being as flexible as possible with our cancellation policy. Contact us directly with questions about your existing reservation, if you would like to reschedule your stay, or make a new reservation for later this year. Review policies.
